Doctrinal Development

NMIOTC hosts usually every Fall the ATP-71 WS and occasionally other related WS with MSO subjects (e.g CME, Biometrics, etc). These Workshops are an opportunity for the NATO Maritime Community to consider and to promote the revision of ATP-71 as well as other publications relevant to the subject matters. NMIOTC’s intention is to achieve the following objectives:

  1. Investigate possible effects of evolving concepts and doctrines to future tactics, techniques and procedures related to MIO and in general to maritime security operations and their tasks.
  2. Discuss and evaluate new proposed chapters / annexes of ATP-71 and other relevant publications in order to be evaluated during MAROPS WG.
  3. Support the efforts of the Alliance to produce a publication covering MSO tasks and their aspects at the operational and tactical level.
