NATO Defence Capacity Building (DCB) for Mauritania – Maritime Security Initiative
From 8 to 26 June 2026, the NATO Maritime Interdiction Operational Training Centre conducted a three-week Tailored Training in Maritime Interdiction to 15 trainees members of the Mauritanian (MRT) Navy, in support of NATO’s DCB for MRT. This NATO‑tailored training followed a modular structure specifically designed to strengthen participants’ operational and tactical knowledge and competencies. It included theoretical instruction and practical training in Visit, Board, Search and Seizure (VBSS), Tactical Sweep, MEDEVAC, Breaching, Boarding Under Multiple Threats (BUMPT), RHIB insertion, and other mission‑critical topics, in the field of MIO. The training was delivered by the Centre’s instructors.
