From 8 to 9 July 26, NMIOTC delivered a pre deployment tailored training on Visit, Board, Search and Seizure (VBSS) techniques and procedures to 12 members Georgian Boarding Team ahead of their participation in OSG FOCOPS 26 – 4.
From 1 to 2 July 2026, the NATO Maritime Interdiction Operational Training Centre (NMIOTC) participated with a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the NATO – ICI Maritime Security Flagship Project Dialogue, held near NATO HQ MARCOM, in Northwood (U.K.). The event, aimed to identify priorities for further development within the Maritime Security Flagship Project, enabling NATO and ICI nations to deepen structured cooperation in the field of maritime security.
On 14 and 20 July 26, NMIOTC hosted the German EOD School for their climate zone training. The German teams accompanied by their dogs trained in the search of weapons, ammunitions and explosives on board NMIOTC’s training platform AXIOS.
From 10 to 13 July 2026, NMIOTC supported Exercise BREEZE 26 in Varna, Bulgaria with a Mobile Education and Training Team (METT), delivering a tailored Visit, Board, Search and Seizure (VBSS) training to 15 participants representing Bulgaria and Romania.
From 29 June to 3 July 2026, the NATO Maritime Interdiction Operational Training Centre (NMIOTC) participated with 2 Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in the Maritime Security Workshop held in Nouakchott, Mauritania. The event, conducted within the framework of the NATO Defence Capacity Building (DCB) Initiative for Mauritania, aimed to assess the progress achieved to date, review the results of ongoing support, and plan future activities in the field of maritime security for the coming years. NMIOTC continues to play a key role in strengthening the operational capabilities of the Mauritanian maritime forces, with particular emphasis on Maritime Interdiction Operations (MIO).
On 13 July 2026, the NATO Maritime Interdiction Operational Training Centre (NMIOTC) had the privilege of welcoming the Commander of Standing NATO Maritime Group Two (SNMG2), Commodore Georgios Kypriotis (GRC N). During his visit, Commander SNMG2 met with the Commandant of NMIOTC, Commodore Pavlos Angelopoulos (GRC N) for an office call and discussed issues of mutual concern. He was also briefed on NMIOTC’s mission, training programmes, and overall contribution in the training of Allies and Partners as the sole NATO Education and Training Facility (NETF) in the Maritime Domain.
