On Thursday, November 13th, 2025, an eight-member U.S. Congress Staff Delegation (STAFFDEL), led by Ms Isidora Petropoulou, from the A7 Directorate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic, visited the NATO Maritime Operational Training Centre (NMIOTC), where they were received by the NMIOTC Commandant and the Souda Naval Base Commander. During the visit, the STAFFDEL members were thoroughly briefed about the mission, role, activities & capabilities of the Centre, and the Souda Naval Base as well, and actively participated in a Q&A session with Commandant NMIOTC.

From 20th to 24th October 2025, the Course 14000 “Maritime IED Disposal (M-IEDD)” was conducted at NMIOTC’s premises. The aim of this course was to educate and train EOD personnel to competently undertake IEDD Operations on-board vessels and other Maritime Infrastructure in support of C-IED and related operations. The training covered the subject concepts; philosophy, principles, equipment, ship insertion and Maritime focused IEDD methodologies, as well as best practices in the Maritime environment. From 13th to 24th October 2025 the Course 17000 was conducted through a combination Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) and in-person attendance at NMIOTC’s premises. The aim of the course was to provide a comprehensive training package which included theoretical and practical presentation of educational knowledge to enhance the participants’ presentation and teaching skills. Ten (10) trainees from five (5) countries (Bahrain, Greece, Italy, Poland and USA) participated in the course.
