HQ SACT Quality Assurance Team of Experts’ On-site Visit

A NATO Allied Command Transformation’s Quality Assurance Team of Experts (ACT QA ToEs) performed an on-site visit to the NMIOTC on 12th and 13th February 2025, in order to assess the Centre’s QA procedures in support of NMIOTC’s Accreditation renewal. The QA Experts, coming from ACT HQs augmented by the U.S. Army Combined Arms Training Center (CATC), conducted a thorough evaluation of NMIOTC’s QA standards and surveyed the Centre’s training facilities. Course 28000 – “Radiological Search in Maritime Environment”

From 10th to 14th of February 2025, an additional iteration of Resident Course 28000 “Radiological Search in Maritime Environment” was conducted at the NMIOTC premises, utilizing the wide range of NMIOTC training facilities and capabilities. The Course is one of the pillars of the Office of Nuclear Incident Policy and Cooperation at the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA’s NIPC) and NATO’s training effort in Europe. Course 1000 “Command Team MIO Issues”

From 3rd to 7th of February 2025, NMIOTC conducted this year’s 1st iteration of the Resident Course 1000 “Command Team MIO Issues”. The aim of the course is to assist Staff Officers and Naval Units’ Command Teams in the efficient application of NATO common standards in the planning and execution of Maritime Interdiction Operations (MIO). Eight (8) trainees from five (5) NATO & Partner Nations (Italy, Kuwait, Tunisia, Ukraine and USA) attended the course.

UKDEFEATT & UKDLOSB Visited NMIOTC

On Wednesday, ‎February ‎5th, ‎2025, the new UK Defence Liaison Officer Souda Bay (DLOSB), Commander Thomas Bowler RN, along with the departing Officer, Commander Mark Ballard RN, visited the Centre, in the context of the DLOSB duties’ handover process, for a courtesy call with the Commandant NMIOTC. They were led by the UK Defence Attaché in Athens, Captain Sam Law RN, and Mrs Johanne Harrison, Head of Defence Section at the British Embassy Athens. NMIOTC’s Change of Command Ceremony

On Tuesday, 11th February 2025, in the presence of the Deputy Chief of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff (HNDGS), Vice Admiral Theodoros Mikropoulos GRC (N), as representative of the HNDGS Chief, General Dimitrios Choupis, the handover ceremony of the Command of NMIOTC from Rear Αdmiral Efstathios Kyriakidis GRC (N) to Commodore Periklis Piyis GRC (N), was held at the Cetre’s premises.
