On October 19th 2018, NMIOTC celebrated its tenth year anniversary. The Minister of Defence of the Hellenic Republic, Mr Panos Kammenos escorted by the Chief of Hellenic National Defense General Staff, Admiral Evangelos Apostolakis GRC(N), Chief of Hellenic Navy, Vice Admiral Nikolaos Tsounis GRC(N) and Chief of Hellenic Air force, Major General, Christos Christodoulou GRC(AF), visited the Centre. Among the distinguished guests, were also the Ambassador of the USA in Greece, H.E. Mr Geoffrey Pyatt, former Chief of the HNDGS Admiral Panagiotis Chinofotis, former NMIOTC Comamandants, representatives of 22 NATO HQ’s and countries, as well as local Allied/National and Military/Civilian

From 16th to 19th of October 2018, NMIOTC hosted in its premises the Allied Command Transformation (ACT) “Maritime Information Services Conference” (MISC 18). The objective of “MIS Conference” was to discuss, evolve and solve the Maritime Command and Control (C2) information and program development issues, by bringing together the Maritime C2 community (NATO and Nations), through a set of sessions. The conference was attended by 84 participants, coming from NATO HQs and 18 NATO countries (Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, UK, USA and Turkey).  

From 8th to 12th of October 2018, the 3rd Drafting, Production and Maintenance of NATO Standards Course was conducted at NMIOTC premises, by Military University of Technology (MUT), in cooperation with HNDGS and NATO Standardization Office (NSO). The hosted course provided comprehensive knowledge to facilitate understanding of the procedures for development, production and maintenance of NATO standardization documents. From October 1 to 4, 2018, NMIOTC hosted the 38th annual MCJSB ALLIED JOINT OPERATIONS DOCTRINE WORKING GROUP (AJOD WG). AJOD WG is responsible for developing, managing and harmonizing all NATO joint doctrines. It also manages NATO’s doctrine architecture. The event was attended by 63 delegates from 18 NATO and partner countries (Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Turkey, Spain, and United Kingdom) and NATO Commands. From 24 to 28 September 2018, the “1000” Resident Course was delivered by NMIOTC’s instructors. The objective of “1000” Course is to assist staff Officers and Naval Units’ Command Teams in the efficient application of NATO common standards in the planning and execution of Maritime Interdiction Operations. The course was attended and successfully completed by a total of 10 trainees, coming from 8 countries (Azerbaijan, Colombia, Egypt, Greece, Lebanon, Malta, Poland and U.A.E.)

From 17 to 28 September 2018, the NMIOTC Maritime Operational Terminology Course (MOTC) was conducted at NMIOTC premises with the support of NATO Allied Command Transformation. The aim of the course was to instruct NATO and partners maritime and military officials in Maritime Operations Terminology and explain operational procedures in order to prepare them to take part in NATO-led Maritime Operations and Exercises. The course was attended by 14 trainees, from 12 countries (Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Colombia, Georgia, Greece, Jordan, Lithuania, Malta, Mauritania, Qatar, U.A.E. and Ukraine).They had the opportunity to work closely and share their experience with NMIOTC and US
