Course 28000 – “Radiological Search in Maritime Environment”

From 18 to 22 May 2026, the NATO Maritime Interdiction Operational Training Centre conducted the 2026 iteration of its resident Course 28000 “Radiological Search in the Maritime Environment”, hosting 20 trainees and 11 instructors from 6 Nations (Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Greece, Slovenia and the USA).
This NATO Course is specifically designed to enhance the operational knowledge and competencies of both military and civilian personnel in the field of nuclear or radiological incidents in the maritime environment. The curriculum focused on classroom lectures supplemented by demonstrations on the field and incorporated extensive hands-on practical training on board of maritime assets.
The course was delivered by the Centre’s instructors, with valuable contributions from guest Subject Matter Experts representing the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), U.S. Marines, and the Crete Naval Hospital.
